A preliminary hearing date is yet to be set in the case against a St. James man who has been accused of the murder of his lover.
Leroy Salmon, 23, of Cornwall Courts, St. James is charged with the murder of 27 year-old Neisha Vassell of Green Pond in the parish.
He appeared before the Montego Bay RM court on Thursday, January 21 where he was granted extended bail.
He is scheduled to reappear before the court on May 18 when the matter will again be mentioned.
Allegations are that on November 10, 2009 about 7pm, Salmon was visiting at the woman’s home where she lived with her three children when an argument developed between them over another woman.
The following day about 6am, one of the woman’s daughters awoke and discovered her mother lying in a pool of blood with her throat slashed.
Following investigations, Salmon was escorted to his home by the police for a search to be conducted where two females were seen.
One of the females, who turned out to be Salmon’s girlfriend, was seen with a bag containing a dagger believed to have been the murder weapon.
