A St. James man who allegedly boxed his girlfriend following a domestic dispute has been ordered to serve one year probation.
A St. James man who allegedly boxed his girlfriend following a domestic dispute has been ordered to serve one year probation.
Sentence was handed down by Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris in the Montego Bay RM Court on Wednesday, February 24.
The accused, Rolin Wint pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.
An offender can be sentenced to a probation order by a magistrate or judge as an alternative to other sentencing options such as imprisonment.
A probation order is made for a specific period of time during which an offender must attend appointments with a probation officer to discuss the factors that led to their offending behavior.
The offender is expected to take action to decrease the likelihood of offending in the future.
A probation order can be made for a period of up to three years.
The incident reportedly took place on December 20, 2009 following a dispute between he couple.
It is alleged that in the interim, Wint boxed the woman and admitted that he did so because she did not take a bath.
