Three murders in the parish ensured that detectives in St. James were occupied over the weekend.
The dead men are Leonard Clarke, Kenroy Powell and Alex Forbes.
In the first incident, 45 year-old, laborer of McKenzie Drive in Flanker - Leonard Clarke - was shot and killed by unknown
assailants on Friday night. The second murder saw 26 year-old Kenroy Powell, otherwise called ‘Keg’, and 29 year-old Alex Forbes, otherwise called ‘Sizzla’ and ‘Ras I-Wa’, both musicians of Mandeville and Barrett Hall addresses falling prey to the gun.
Reports reaching the Western Mirror are that on Friday afternoon Clarke was walking along McKenzie Drive in Red Dirt, Flanker when he was pounced upon by gunmen who shot him several times to his head.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival. Clarke’s body was discovered lying face down along the dirt road in a pool of blood.
No motive has been theorized for the murder.
In a separate incident, late Saturday night both musicians were killed in Barrett Hall, Lilliput.
Police reports are that both men were at a house in Barrett Hall when they were called outside by a man.
On reaching the front door, the visitor fired several shots hitting both men.
The police were summoned and both men were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where they were pronounced
dead upon arrival.
So far 21 murders have been recorded in St. James in January alone, 10 more than the corresponding period last year.
Most of these murders, however, have occurred in Salt Spring and Flanker.
