A 19 year-old man is remanded in custody after a quantity of fake US notes worth more than JA$40,000 were found in his possession.
Shane Brooks of Creek Street, St. James, appeared before the Montego Bay RM Court on Friday,
March 12 on a charge of possession of counterfeit notes.
On the last mention date, a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show up in court but it was later discovered that he was in custody on another charge.
He will remain behind bars until April 16 when the matter will again be mentioned.
The fake cash was confiscated on November 2, 2009, about 10:45am, when Brooks was seen along Creek Street and was accosted by the police.
A white envelope that he had in his possession was searched and was found to have a sum of US$600. The notes were reportedly in $50 and $20 denomination, all of which turned out to be counterfeit.
