The Director of Public Prosecution has granted the Crown a Voluntary Bill of Indictment in the murder case against 28 year-old Kevin Forbes of Market Circle, St. James.
The Director of Public Prosecution has granted the Crown a Voluntary Bill of Indictment in the murder case against 28 year-old Kevin Forbes of Market Circle, St. James.
Forbes has been accused of the murder of 23 year-old Nevlan Buchanan a.k.a, 'Miracle' of Springfield in St. James.
The Bill was being sought as the prosecution failed to secure the attendance of the main witness who had expressed fear and had never attended court.
The Bill allows the prosecution to bypass the preliminary hearing and to proceed to trial in the Circuit Court (High Court).
The matter was transferred to the High Court on Monday, March 15 where Forbes will stand trial.
On February 25, 2009 about 5:35 a.m., Buchanan was reportedly standing at a taxi stand along Barnett Street with his girlfriend when Forbes and two other men approached them.
It is alleged that Forbes proceeded to indecently assault the female and Buchanan spoke to him about it.
Forbes then used a knife to stab Buchanan in the chest.
The wounded man fled the scene and was chased by the three men.
