A March 29 trial date has been set for two men facing assault and wounding charges.
Charged with assault at common law is 38 year-old Austin Irving of Granville, St. James, while Kevin Daley, 32, of Cambridge, St. James is answering to charges of unlawful wounding, malicious destruction of property and assaulting a District Constable.
The two appeared before the Montego Bay RM Court on Thursday, March 4.
The charges arose out of an incident on October 9, 2009 after Daley was seen harassing a tourist.
After the officer approached him and spoke to him, it is alleged that Daley told her that he was not interested in hearing what she had to say and that she should leave as she was preventing him from "eating a food."
Daley then rushed the officer with a piece of steel in a stabbing position and when her colleague intervened he stabbed him to the left arm causing a wound and damaging his shirt.
It is also alleged that when the colleague intervened, Irving rushed towards the officer with a beer bottle.
Irving had his bail extended, while Daley, who is said to have about ten other matters pending, was taken back into custody.
