Thirty-two year-old Errol Anderson, also known as 'Lampi', of Fellman Corner, Salt :. Spring in St. James was chased and shot to death by gunmen on Thursday, March 4 in the nearby district of Green Pond.
Reports from the Constabulary Communications N etwork (CCN) are that about 8 a.m. residents of the Valley Heights community in Green Pond heard explosions and called the police. On their arrival, Anderson's body was found with gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jeneva Parnell, Errol Anderson's mother told the Western Mirror that her last conversation with her son was about his plan to leave from Salt Spring.
He was also concerned, she said, about getting some money to buy cement and sand to complete a part of the house in order 1;0 move away from his girlfriend.
"I last spoke to my, son at 7:30 Thursday morning. Then about 8:30 am I got a call that my son was dead."
According to Ms. Parnell, Anderson went to visit his girlfriend to get some clothes early that morning and was chased by gunmen from their home in Salt Spring to a section in Green Pond where he was caught and shot.
She was later told by the girlfriend that Anderson was in conflict with an unidentified man when, it was alleged, that Anderson fired a shot at his aggressor who returned fire, hitting Anderson and killing him on the spot.
His mother said, "Errol was not a violent person. He would not interfere with anyone. I don't believe he was in war with anybody, because if that was the case, he would not have been in Salt Spring that morning."
Detectives from the Mount Salem Police Station continue to investigate.
