A man narrowly missed being killed Saturday, when a lone gunman reportedly opened fire hitting him while being attended to by his barber.
Reports are that about 12:00 noon, a 27 year-old, unemployed man of a Mt Salem address, also in Montego Bay, travelled to the barber shop to get a haircut.
Minutes later, he climbed into the barber's chair and was in the process of getting his shave when a gunman walked into the shop and pulled a handgun from his waistband.
He immediately pointed the firearm in the direction of the customer and fired over eight shots at him, three of which caught him in his body.
The gunman then made his way down the stairs and escaped in a waiting Toyota Corolla motor car.
The injured man was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The police, who were called to the scene of the crime, quickly mounted roadblocks in an attempt to nab the suspect, but that was futile.
Eight spent shells were recovered from the scene, the police said.
