The Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe into the fatal shooting of an unidentified man, believed to be about 20 years old, on the Roehampton main road in Anchovy, St. James, on Saturday morning. An illegal firearm was taken from him.

His body is of fair complexion and about 173 centimetres (5 feet 8 inches) long. It was clad in a multicoloured shorts and army green shirt.
Reports are that about 10:45 a.m., police were on patrol in the Anchovy area where a Toyota motor car, which was reportedly robbed from its owner was spotted and two men were seen changing the tyres. When they were accosted, the men brandished guns and opened fire at the officers; a running gun battle subsequently ensued. After the shooting, one of the men was found -with gunshot wounds and a homemade shotgun retrieved from him. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
Investigations continue.
