[With Brian Brown]
And it came to pass, that Brian had one hour to do an article due a day earlier, He pondered, 'self, do I desecrate the sanctity of this privilege and rush, yea I say, fumble through an ill-planned, hastily fashioned diatribe about, well, nothing, for the sake of continuity, posterity, ego? 'He turned deliberately and said, 'Hell yeah dude! Let's do this!' I suppose even in the midst of all Hades breaking loose, Dudus and being everywhere you want to be Visa, scamming and weekly earthquakes, dis as cheap wi chop wi ten, sip sumtg cold and hoI a meds.
I mean, it could always be worse ... you could be Jamaica's Prime Minister ... now who wants that job? Couldn't pay you enough don't? Poor Bruce, so much inherited, a lot not his doing, so much his creation. All the wars and death aside, is there anything worth dreaming about anymore, I mean like we used to? Any reasons to really and truly go on, believing in more than procreation, wealth creation, debt and death ... you're damn right there is! Everywhere we want to go, is still inside the world that is our imagination; our faith, our hopes and fears, our very reason for living. Whoa Tonto ... take it easy dude. Much ado, remember? Riiight!
           PASSIVE LISTENING
'What? Yah man, I heard you. You said we don't talk like we used to. That it feels like we're just going through the motions. I'm listening baby, I hear YOU.' (cue smile). One of the most profound sayings states that if you're talking you're not learning anything. Deep don't? Same thing applies to couples during 'heated discussions' (don't say 'arguments'). Most times we hear out each other for a chance to retort, discount, dissuade, disarm and destroy ... hahahaha. Ok, maybe not destroy, but to win. That's the primary objective, prove my point superior, you're wrong, I'm right, I WIN!!! At work, any meeting over half hour long, and you start losing people's attention like John Crow when dead dog clean up. Is it that we're distracted, uninterested, bored or some people just chat too whats-it-not much, don't? (kiss teet) How we communicate is everything though. Seriously. You coulda bright like morning star, if you cannot effectively and eloquently transmit those smarts into usable language for others, then really, what good is it? Unless you're stuck in a lab churning out formulas and potions and such. Regardless of the profession, a good command of the relevant language is as important as the knowledge of the related subject matter. That's how you sell your ideas, your product, yourself. Sometimes too, if we really pay attention, a lot more is said when nothing's being said. Try this. Watch Tv, mute it and decipher what they're trying to communicate. Stop reading lips, and read their body language. Suppose you could read minds for one hour every day? Yu sure you want to hear what people really think about you? Slippery slope that one. Would be interesting to hear what the gwaanie gwaanie people them think about sometimes don't? TMI - too much information maybe. So, where were we? Ahh yes, now you're passively reading. Well, I don't blame you ... me too.
           QUIET DISCONTENT
Gandhi and Martin Luther King popularized the art of passive resistance in the last century. The Dalai Lama and Tibetan monks proffer this peaceful approach
to confrontation and reconciliation as the right way to preserve human life and dignity. Ok. But ah nuh all the while yu can whole dung di tension my yout. Yow, sometimes wi jus haffi let off steam and just no bizniz star, doan? I figure most of us suffer in our own ways, taking turns at surviving our individual trials and tribulations. Check Facebook, post something inspirational, motivating and couple people will say 'fi real, mi feel that my yout'. And at least one will tell you, maybe even in a private message, 'I really needed that today. Thank you.' Yow everybody have them Gideon fi bear, some more than others. Bob did say it right, every man think his burden is the heaviest ... who feels it knows it. But where is that line, the point where we say, cho whats-it-not!? Enough is rhaatid enough! And when we get there, what do we do? Snap, have a nervous breakdown, take it out on those closest to us? All of the above? We are all messed up in one way or another. Most of us have faced and are still dealing with at least one very traumatic experience that has left us forever changed, sometimes for the better. But all of us have one thing in common. Given all we know; deep down inside we really really believe nobody is going though what I'm going through. It's just different. I want to save the trees, the planet, Jamaica, Africa, my family, me, but in a different way. I'm special, and insignificant. There, there. It aint like that. Hee hee, you are not alone ... See, that made you smile, if even mentally. Really, it's a human experience. Yes no one feels it just like do, but many are feeling just like you do. And if nothing else, your silent suffering is shared by millions, yes millions. And tens of millions more, would love your problems. To them, your life is paradise. It's all about situations, mindset and perception. It really is not that bad ... really ...
           MUMBOJUMBO
So here endeth a thousand word monologue that has left you thinking,' what the hell was that about!?', if you even got this far. But you have gotten this far, despite the odds and evilous people, and you're still here, fighting. Most people don't wait for the real answer when they ask you how you're doing. They're just being polite. We all use words to mask our true thoughts. It's natural. But if nothing else, we know we're here, now and there's still soooo much living to do.
